Senior AI Engineer
Description
We're looking for a Senior AI Engineer to work on the same global products in the Learning & Development and Cybersecurity domains, built on our own PaaS platform. We're a team of four experienced people from different fields, with a successful startup exit behind us, and we're looking for a colleague to push our AI capabilities forward.
How will you work?
Permanent contract with a 6-month probation period. Full-time, mostly remote, with occasional visits to our Zagreb office. We're looking for someone with solid experience shipping AI features to production. Besides deep technical skills, we value proactivity, a can-do attitude, responsibility, and transparency.
What will you do?
Build and improve AI-powered features that actually matter to users and drive revenue.
- Design, train, and deploy models (mostly with OpenAI, Gemini, and open-source alternatives via OpenRouter)
- Integrate AI into our existing backend and product workflows
- Experiment fast, measure impact, and iterate — sometimes throw away what you built yesterday
- Active participation and critical thinking in product questions ("why are we doing this?", "this is stupid", "what if we tried X instead?") and architectural discussions ("this will never scale", "here's how I'd do it")
- Using AI tools is obviously expected, but you take full responsibility for your code and model outputs
Tech Stack and Tools We Use (AI-focused part)
- Heavy Python, FastAPI, Docker, AWS
- OpenAI API, Gemini, OpenRouter for accessing various models
- MongoDB for storing vectors and metadata
- Experiment tracking (Weights & Biases or similar), monitoring with Sentry
- GitHub Actions, Traefik, the usual DevOps stuff
- MacBook, Cursor, GitHub, Linear, Discord
Who are we looking for?
- Someone who takes initiative and thinks about the bigger picture — including business impact of AI features
- Open-mindedness and willingness to clearly voice your opinion. In fact, we believe it's unacceptable for anyone to withhold their thoughts.
- Building products is impossible without pivots, so adaptability and readiness for changes — including discarding previous experiments — are essential.
- Proven independence in prototyping, deploying, and maintaining production AI solutions, with a strong desire for continuous learning.
- A degree in computer science, data science, math, or related field is an advantage, as is real-world experience shipping ML/AI systems in a product environment.
What do we offer?
Depending on knowledge and experience, gross salary from €3,200 to €4,500 per month. We don't offer an office with a ping-pong table, Christmas parties, or chocolate fountains. We don't offer perks or a culture of keeping quiet and looking the other way — and we're not looking for people who apply because of those things. What we do offer is fair pay for fair work.
Why us?
We don't build projects for clients — we build products for ourselves. That's a completely different dynamic and a completely different energy. We're only looking for people who truly value the opportunity to ship real AI features that users pay for, in a small team that built a global SaaS from scratch to a successful exit. This isn't a position for someone seeking a comfortable routine or just playing with the latest hype models, but for people who want to work hard, learn fast, and see the concrete impact of their AI work.
How to apply?
Send your CV, GitHub/Kaggle profile, or just a few lines about yourself (and definitely mention a couple of production AI projects you've shipped) to: jobs@ancorit.com. If you want to build AI that powers a product with global potential and grow much faster than in a big company, get in touch. Your drive, curiosity, and proven track record are what matter most 🙂
